Threadworms (also known as pinworms) are small worms found in a person’s faeces (poo). A condition more commonly found amongst children, threadworms typically cause itching around the anus or vagina – particularly at night.

In terms of their likeness, they look distinctly similar to small pieces of white thread (hence the name threadworms).

In most instances, treating threadworm is a relatively straightforward process – ingesting chewable tablets or medicated liquids being the most common means. However, due to its highly transmissible nature, it is recommended that everyone living in a household with a person who has contracted threadworms also seek treatment.
